“You don’t realise how people can hate, Chris, they can hate so much they’ll tear the world to pieces…’
Jeremy Herrin directs a brand new production of Arthur Miller’s landmark play All My Sons at The Old Vic in Spring 2019. Featuring a stellar cast that includes Sally Field and Bill Pullman, the production is the first major revival since the 2010 Apollo Theatre show, which starred David Suchet and Zoe Wanamaker.
Set in 1947 America, All My Sons follows the Keller family, who have overcome hardship in order to lead successful lives. Joe and Kate Keller have built a home, raised two sons and started a business. But it’s true that nothing lasts forever, and soon their family nest is plummeted into jeopardy.
With their eldest son, Larry, being missing-in-action for three years, a mysterious figure appears to surface some truths that have long since been buried. Based on the true story of army inspection officers approving defective aircraft engines in the 1940’s, the searing text pulls into question the American Dream.
Bill Pullman stars opposite Sally Field as Joe and Kate Keller, respectively, as they both make their London debuts. Pullman is well-known for his role in 1996 film Independence Day, and also starred in the Broadway premiere of The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? and Oleanna.
Tony Award-nominated actress Sally Field has Broadway credits including The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? and The Glass Menagerie, and extensive screen appearances in ER, Mrs Doubtfire, Forrest Gump and The Amazing Spider-Man.
All My Sons is directed by Headlong’s Jeremy Herrin, whose credits including the multi-award-winning People, Places and Things, as well as Labour of Love at the Noel Coward Theatre, This House, The Nether and Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies.
One of Arthur Miller’s most widely-acknowledged plays, All My Sons is the blistering drama that follows a family on the brink of collapse. The production plays a limited season at London’s Old Vic Theatre in Spring 2019.
