Helsinki, ikuisesti

Peter von Bagh's praised compilation film of Helsinki is a dreamlike city symphony unfolding through associations and allusions. The images on the silver screen remind of the city's past and future, and conjures up the the lost cityscapes. Arrivals and departures recorded in documentary films and the never-ending pulsation of the city's central spaces are joined by familiar film characters, who incarnate the love for the city and its soul. The ever-changing imagery of the city are enriched by artists, who have eternalised many urban spaces and the architecture of the past. 　　The journey through Helsinki, skilfully put together by von Bagh, is an unforgettable experience. Its pictures create a mental map to the heart of Finland's capital, to the essence of art and the core of Finnish culture. The film proves that the most genuine Helsinki is found on the silver screen.
