有些人会在某一天突发灵感，莫名其妙地感觉这一天是自己的幸运日，比如比尔。为了迎接这个特别的日子，比尔决定买一张彩票，他兴致勃勃地告诉好朋友诺拉晚上等他揭晓。然而当天晚上，诺拉并没有等到比尔，而丈夫杰克也很晚才回到家中。第二天，一向守时的比尔居然没有上班，这使诺拉疑窦丛生。查询过程中，诺拉意外得知比尔在事发当天遇到过杰克。不久，警察发现了比尔的尸体，而他身上的彩票早已不翼而飞。正当诺拉犹豫着是否向丈夫摊牌时，却意外发现杰克在和一个女人交往，而她就是刚刚中了彩票大奖的人……...
